Creative West End - More than a market - Friday

  • More Music 13 - 17 Devonshire Road Morecambe, England, LA3 1QT United Kingdom (map)

Creative West End is delighted to welcome you along for a Winter weekend of festive delights.

Kicking off on Friday evening at 4pm - 9pm and again Saturday morning at 11am -4pm before rolling into the West End Winter Lantern Festival and Baked A La Ska Christmas show at More Music.

Saturday will see the unveiling of Creative West End collaborative 'Avenues and Alleyways' project inviting you to discover the backstreets of the West End in new ways guided by local artists.

With Christmas around the corner, the market is the perfect place for festive shopping. Come along and find out about Creative West End projects,
discover community organisations in the area, try some locally made food, listen to music, buy something handmade, swap something on the book stall or simply hang out at the community snug area.

Once the sun has set, More Music’s Lantern Festival will light up the streets of Morecambe. Expect amazing music from the remarkable Cacophony Arkestra, a costumed processional carnival band sharing music from their latest climate change focused project Insektaggedon! The group performs a mixture of Jazz tinged Soca, Morricone-isms and Afro-beat - guaranteed to get people moving!

At 6pm the lantern procession will assemble outside More Music and set off through the residential streets of the West End, spreading a little winter magic. Cacophony Arkestra will be joined on the procession by More Music’s Baybeat Streetband reworking festive classics into funky beat-filled stompers. The lovely lanterns used in the procession are made of paper and willow and have been created in workshops at local schools and in community sessions.
